Lawson Show Choir

Missouri Lottery employees in Jefferson City got a special treat when a performing group from Lawson Elementary School stopped by for a visit on May 25. They performed a '50s-themed routine they had been working on all year. Director Melody Starnes explained that it was a good opportunity for the kids to perform, and a good fit, since the Lottery generates money for public education. The following video documents the performance.

Anniversary Cruise

If you weren't aware, the Missouri Lottery is giving away cruise packages on the "Missouri Lottery's 25th Anniversary Cruise" Scratchers ticket. It's a fantastic vacation, including a seven-day cruise on Royal Caribbean, first-class airfare and spending cash. Several cruise packages have been awarded, but many still remain.

The Forakers of Canalou were one of the early winners of this prize, and have already taken the trip. We caught up with them shortly after they returned. In the following video, they talk about the cruise and how much fun they had.

 

Heroes in the Classroom

The Missouri Lottery has partnered with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals to recognize outstanding teachers. Where are they now?

Remember the Balmers of St. Louis? They won a $506,083 Show Me Cash jackpot in October 2009. We caught up with them late last year to see how they were enjoying the windfall. In the following video, they remember the win, talk about what they've done and how winning Show Me Cash has changed their lives.

 

Opening Day in St. Louis

You have to hand it to St. Louis. The city knows how to kick off the start of baseball season. As a major sponsor of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Missouri Lottery was on hand opening day, March 31, to celebrate the start of another season. Below are some highlights from the event.

 

Cruise winner!

Rick Foraker is a truck-driver from Canalou and a winner of a cruise package on the "Missouri Lottery's 25th Anniversary Cruise" Scratchers ticket. He was playing the game in hopes of winning a cruise and now will be able to take his wife of 20 years on the honeymoon they never had. Producer Frank Finley recently caught up with the Forakers and asked them some questions about winning this awesome prize.

 

Bass Pro!

By now, you are probably aware that the Missouri Lottery has a new Scratchers ticket featuring Bass Pro Shops®. You can win up to $75,000 instantly, $500 Bass Pro Shops gift cards, and the ticket is eligible for the "Ultimate Outdoor Adventure" second-chance promotion. Players can win additional gift cards in the promotion, and three grand-prize winners will get to select an outdoor adventure from one of 10 expeditions.

The Lottery kicked off the new ticket and promotion last weekend in Springfield. Below is a video of highlights from the event. The Lottery will be holding a similar event in St. Louis this weekend. Join us at Bass Pro Shops in St. Charles from 12 - 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. Players who buy $10 worth of tickets will get a free limited-edition T-shirt. Welcome House

It's always nice to hear about anonymous donations to good causes. We recently told you about the donation of a $20,000 winning Missouri Lottery ticket to "Welcome House" in Kansas City. Producer Frank Finley went to visit the facility and filed this report.

 

Players Groups

What is a players group? Simply put, a group of individuals who play the Lottery together. Often, a players group consists of co-workers who put in for Powerball together, but the definition could fit a couple of friends or family members, all the way up to a hundred workers at a factory.

The Missouri Lottery celebrates a players group every month with the Team of the Month. We caught up with the November Team of the Month, The Bunco Friday Friends of Ste. Genevieve, right before Christmas. The following video shows how they combine playing the Lottery and having fun.
