It’s called a groundscore - when you spot something of value on the ground, discarded or lost by someone else, and you pick it up. Of course, if you know who lost it, you should try and return it. But that’s not always possible, and one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. This California man found a $20 bill, bought a lottery ticket and won $1 million. A score, indeed.
The moral of this story is sign your tickets. A Lottery ticket is a bearer’s instrument. Sign the back of your winning tickets to avoid losing it to someone else.
We had a very nice letter from a winner in our “Second Chance of a Lifetime – Summer Playlist” promotion. We try to offer something different with our prizes, and this year’s musical theme struck a chord with Shayne Reber of Kansas City. He wrote:
I just wanted to send a comment over about the Summer Playlist Weekly Musical Merchandise that I am still in shock about that I won by having my name drawn. I want to send a million “thank yous” to everyone involved with this promotion, because it is one that with these musical instruments, you are impacting lives and changing them, maybe even for generations. I lost my keyboard when my parents’ house was completely destroyed in a tornado in Liberty 10 years ago. I lost my passion for playing, and my parents literally lost everything and are still recovering since the insurance did not pay for the farm. My keyboard for all these years has been in the back of my mind. I’m doing everything to get my parents back as close to normal as possible, since they are in their seventies and lost a lifetime of memories. I can't wait. For the first time, I can finally sit back down and play for my parents and hopefully put a smile on their faces and ease their pain and make them forget even for a moment the tragedy that has made them lose what is supposed to be their golden years, that they still work every day to make it through. I know, it is only a keyboard, but in the minds and in songs to be played, it is so much more to my parents. Thank you with all my heart.
We’ve awarded 75 prizes of musical instruments every week during the “Summer Playlist” promotion. It continues until Aug. 18. You can enter this promotion by adding non-winning tickets to your My Lottery account. If you don’t have a free account already, sign up for the My Lottery Players Club and start earning Points For Prizes® for your play. Thanks for the note, Shayne, and thanks for playing.
The Missouri Lottery is proud to sponsor a number of minor league baseball teams around the state, including the Chillicothe Mudcats! The Lottery donated some tickets to a game to a local retailer, and The Glory softball team was the beneficiary. Michael Bales shared this after the event.
“I would like to thank the Lottery for the donation of the Mudcats tickets. The Glory softball team thoroughly enjoyed the game and spent much of the time hanging out with the mascot, Muddy. Here is a photo of the girls with the Mudcats team.”
We’re glad you had fun, girls. Thanks for Playing It Forward, Mudcats!
Need a quick gift for Dad? We’ve got plenty of Scratchers to choose from, but we’ve been telling everyone to consider a Lucky for Life ticket. You could give your dad luck that lasts for a lifetime. The top prize in Lucky for Life is $1,000 a day for life, and the second prize is $25,000 a year for life. Winners of the top two prizes in this game will get paid annually for as long as they live.
That’s a comforting thought. This recent winner from St. Louis is thrilled about $25,000 a year for the rest of her life.
So, consider a Lucky for Life ticket for dad. He deserves it. Happy Father’s Day.
Happy Mother's Day. We're sure you've already done something special for your mom, but here's an idea for a last-minute gift. Check out the new $10 game, "Millionaire Riches." You'll certainly be the number one child if you hand her a Scratchers ticket worth $1 million. That's the top prize, but she could also win $100,00, or $10,000, or $4,000 ... you get the idea.
Is your momma tough? Maybe she'd like a new Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. She could win one, or up to $75,000, on the "Harley-Davidson® Open Road" Scratchers ticket.
Both of these games are available at thousands of retail locations on the way to mama's house.
