Lightning strikes twice

Terry Patterson of Columbia was one of the three lucky players who split the Sept. 27 Show Me Cash jackpot. It was the first time in the history of the game that a jackpot was hit by three players, each taking $43,333 from the $130,000 jackpot.

Terry would have preferred to solely win the jackpot, but he was not upset about having to split the prize.

"I'm so far ahead of where I was yesterday," he explained. "I don't have time or cause to be petty about it."

The win inspired him, and when the jackpot climbed to $300,000 earlier this week, Terry was out buying more Show Me Cash tickets. While at the store, he noticed that the new Missouri Lottery holiday-themed Scratchers were now on sale. He decided to take a chance on the $2 ticket because, "nothing says Christmas like scratching latex."

He bought the first "Candy Cane Cash" Scratchers ticket off the roll and won $1,000.

It was his second big win in a month, and Terry says he's not done yet. Show Me Cash was hit last night in Jackson, but undoubtedly he'll be in the game as the jackpot begins to climb again. And why not? He already knows lightning sometimes strikes twice.

Where it's at

Wednesday was a good night. The Cardinals won game 1 of the World Series and several Missourians won big playing the Missouri Lottery. No one hit the Powerball jackpot, but two players in Florida and Texas won $1 million with Power Play. In Missouri, two players matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000. The winning tickets were sold in the following locations:

• Missouri Energy, 801 N. Jefferson, in St. James
• Casey's General Store, 1009 N. Osteopathy, in Kirksville

Show Me Cash produced the big winner of the night. A player in Jackson matched all five winning Show Me Cash numbers to win the $351,000 jackpot. The winning ticket was sold at the American Legion in Jackson.

The Show Me Cash jackpot resets to $50,000 for tonight, but both Mega Millions and Powerball continue to climb. Friday's Mega Millions jackpot is $48 million, and Saturday's Powerball jackpot is $148 million.

Going to the game tonight?

The World Series opens in St. Louis tonight. It's going to be a big one. First Lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden will be in attendance. You should expect traffic delays and heightened security. MLB has offered some advice for fans going to the game (via MissouriNet).

The Missouri Lottery has instant ticket vending machines in the stadium, but you'll need to get your Powerball tickets before you go. Maybe you should stop by Joe Bucks.

Jackpots are rolling!

All of the jackpots are climbing and getting large enough to take notice. No one hit Mega Millions last night, so it's now $48 million for Friday. Note that two players matched five white-ball numbers last Friday. If they had added Megaplier to their ticket, each would have claimed a $1 million prize.

Tonight's Powerball jackpot is big league money - $124 million. The Show Me Cash jackpot has grown to $351,000. That's a big chunk of change to get all at once. Don't forget about Lotto. Tonight's Lotto jackpot is $1.3 million, which would pay about $52,000 a year for the next 25 years. You still get two plays for $1 on Lotto.

With the weather turning colder, maybe you'll be indoors watching more sports. That means it's a great time for Club Keno. Add Double Bulls-Eye and you could win $1 million playing Club Keno.

The St. Louis Cardinals are in the World Series! The Missouri Lottery was in St. Louis on opening day, and we joined the Cardinals to recognize excellence in education all season. The Lottery is proud to see our partner demonstrating excellence on the field. As the eyes of the world turn to St. Louis, we’re rooting for Missouri.

There were a lot of winners last weekend. All of the jackpots rolled, but two players matched all five white-ball numbers in Mega Millions to win $250,000. The winning tickets were sold at the following locations:

• Everyday Convenience Store in Columbia
• Merello Convenience on Old Halls Ferry in St. Louis

A player matched all five white-ball numbers in Powerball to win $200,000. That winning ticket was sold at Trex Mart on Pear Street in St. Joseph.

In addition, five players matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000. One of those players used Power Play to multiply the prize into $40,000. That ticket was sold at U-Gas Little Brennan in High Ridge. The other four tickets were sold at the following locations:

• Petro Mart, 5885 Highway 19, in Cuba
• Clinton Discount Cigarettes & Tobacco
• Perryville Motomart
• Shop ‘n Save, 1032 Lemay Ferry, in St. Louis

That’s not all. Club Keno also produced some big winners. A winning 7-Spot ticket was sold at Skybox Lounge in Springfield. The winner will collect $5,262. A winning 6-Spot ticket with Bulls-Eye was sold at AJ’s Bar in Kansas City. That player won $10,524. The Cardinals are giving us another week to hang out and play Club Keno. Don’t forget to add Double Bulls-Eye.

All of these winners, and yet there are plenty of reasons to stay in the game. Tonight’s Show Me Cash jackpot is $282,000. Tomorrow’s Mega Millions jackpot is $39 million. Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is $124 million! Keep winning, Missouri.

Someone won big playing Keno last night, but it wasn't someone watching sports on TV - in a bar, at least. A winning 7-Spot ticket was sold at the Eldon Eagle Stop. The lucky player holding the Keno To Go ticket will collect $6,309.

No one hit the jackpot last night, but a player in Wisconsin did win $1 million by adding Power Play. In Missouri, three players matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000. Winning tickets were all sold in c-stores on the western side of the state:

• Rapid Roberts, 3165 Glenstone, in Springfield
• Bullseye, 1657 Highway J, in Ozark
• Circle K, 11100 Holmes, in Kansas City

We also had a big Club Keno winner on Tuesday. Oddly enough, it was a Keno To Go ticket from a c-store(granted, a big one) along the western border. Someone matched eight of nine spots with Bulls-Eye to win an $8,000 prize. The winning ticket was sold at Freeman Country Market in Freeman.

What are your numbers?

Pick 3 and Pick 4 players are enjoying the "Second Shot" promotion. We've had three bonus drawings so far - two in Pick 3 and one in Pick 4 - and we've seen some interesting numbers lately. Pick 4 today at Midday was 5 - 7 - 8 - 6. Pick 3 last Friday was 7-1-1, and 9-1-1 popped on Monday. I just realized today is 10-12-11. What will you be playing tonight?

UPDATE: Looks like 7-1-1 was the hottest combination. We paid out $343,000 in prizes for that drawing, more than 300 percent of sales.
