Opening Day

Tomorrow is the opening day of baseball in Kansas City and St. Louis. It might not feel like baseball season yet, but it's here.

To celebrate the occasion, St. Louis is hosting a pre-game rally downtown, and the Missouri Lottery will be on site all day. Look for the Lottery at Kiener Plaza, where we'll be selling tickets, playing games and conducting promotions. Buy $10 worth of Lottery tickets and you'll get a Lottery T-shirt. Enter non-winning tickets purchases on site into a second-chance promotion for a chance to win $100 in Scratchers tickets and autographed baseballs. You can also play a variety of games for more chances to win Scratchers tickets.

Rain, rain, go away - we plan on having fun today. Let's bring home a winner.

Cruise winner

The Paffs of Springfield were trying to come up with a big trip to celebrate 25 years of marriage. They decided to purchase a "Missouri Lottery's 25th Anniversary Cruise" Scratchers ticket. Problem solved.

The Missouri Lottery has been making dreams come true for 25 years. In celebration, the Lottery has a number of interesting games for you to play, including the "Silver Anniversary" Scratchers game that features a second-chance drawing for $1 million.

One of our popular daily Draw Games has joined the party with a play on dates. Today's winning Midday Pick 4 combination was 1-9-9-4. Last Friday's winning Midday Pick 4 combination was 1-9-7-4. Anyone care to guess the next date that might surface? Or will you stick with 1-0-4-0 through tax season?

Where it's at

The enormous Mega Millions jackpot was hit in New York, but Powerball continues to climb. Additionally, two players in other states won $1 million with the Megaplier®, just as two tickets sold in Texas won $1 million by adding Power Play. Add Power Play or Megaplier to your ticket at the time of purchase and you could still become a millionaire without hitting the jackpot.

In Missouri, several players won big. One player matched four white-ball numbers and the Megaball® Friday night to win $10,000. The winning ticket was sold at Circle K, 1750 O'Fallon Road, in St. Charles.

One ticket sold at Price Chopper, 4201 S. Noland Road in Independence, matched all five white-ball numbers in Powerball to win $200,000. If you shop at Price Chopper, you should check your tickets closely.

Four other tickets matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000. The winning tickets were sold at the following locations:

• Mac's, 2703 E. 32nd St., in Joplin
• QuikTrip, 8815 Page Blvd., in Overland
• QuikTrip, 1500 S.W. 7 Highway, in Blue Springs
• Country Club Express Wash in St. Peters

Proof that someone was watching basketball yesterday? A winning 7-Spot Club Keno ticket was sold at Larry's in Piedmont. Some lucky player won $8,890 by keeping tabs on more than one game. We'll be selling Club Keno well past Cinderella's last dance - just in time for baseball season.

Well, if that wasn't enough winners for you, we've got some big jackpots to play for this week. Tonight's Show Me Cash jackpot is $76,000, and we're entering the final week of the "D.I.Y. Dough" promotion. You can also play for Wednesday's $153 million Powerball jackpot. Good luck!

 

Dreaming...

If you were to win the $312 million Mega Millions jackpot tonight, you would have the option of taking the prize as an annuity or as a lump sum. The estimated cash option before taxes is $198.2 million. The annuity would pay more than $10 million a year for 25 years.

There are plenty of good reasons for your preference, but it occurs to me that getting $10 million a year to spend and give away - and you get to do it every year for 25 years - leads to some pretty inspirational dreaming. What would you do?

A new game officially begins this weekend, and I think you'll like it. The new $5 game, "Missouri Lottery's 25th Anniversary Bass Pro Shops®," features a top prize of $75,000 and the chance to instantly win $500 gift cards to Bass Pro Shops. Additionally, non-winning tickets are eligible for the "Missouri Lottery's Ultimate Outdoor Adventure" second-chance promotion. In three drawings between now and July 21, players can win additional $500 gift cards and the grand prize of an outdoor adventure of a lifetime. Winners will get to select their trip from 10 adventures, such as whitewater rafting, Florida trophy fishing and angling in Alaska.

Where it's at

The jackpots continue to climb, but several players won big in Missouri last night. One player matched all five winning Show Me Cash numbers to win the $55,000 jackpot. The winning ticket was sold at Break Time, 420 W. Monroe St., in Mexico.

The Powerball jackpot rolled, but three players in other states won $1 million with Power Play. In Missouri, four tickets matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000. The winning tickets were sold at the following locations:

• Schottzie’s Bar & Grill in St. Louis
• Casey’s General Store in Booneville
• Gerbes on Schotthill Woods Dr. in Jefferson City
• Mobil on the Run, 9403 Page Ave., in St. Louis

There was also a Club Keno winner last night. A 9-Spot ticket sold at Alley Pick N Pub in Butler won $10,000.

Both Powerball and Mega Millions are boasting huge jackpots. Play for the $304 million Mega Millions jackpot Friday and a $125 million Powerball jackpot Saturday. Please play responsibly. 

Welcome House

It's always nice to hear about anonymous donations to good causes. We recently told you about the donation of a $20,000 winning Missouri Lottery ticket to "Welcome House" in Kansas City. Producer Frank Finley went to visit the facility and filed this report.

There was another Show Me Cash jackpot winner last night. A ticket sold at Dierbergs 79 Crossing in St. Peters matched all five Show Me Cash numbers to win the $131,000 jackpot. That's the 132nd jackpot awarded since the game began in September 2008.
