State offices, including the Missouri Lottery, will be closed Friday in observance of the holiday. Thank you for your support in 2009. Here's wishing you good fortune for 2010.
No one hit the Powerball jackpot last night, but one player in another state used the Power Play option to win $1 million. By selecting Power Play for an extra $1 at the time of purchase, players can multiply their winnings by the Power Play number. Someone in Missouri took advantage of that. A player who buys tickets at 7-Eleven, 509 Bates St. in St. Louis, matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number to win $10,000. By adding Power Play, that person ended up with a $30,000 prize.
Another player, who did not choose Power Play, won $10,000 with a ticket purchased at QuikTrip, 11201 E. Truman Road, in Independence.
If you haven't heard, an agreement between the nation's two multi-jurisdiction Lottery groups has been brokered to allow the sale of both group's games in member Lotteries. The Missouri Lottery commission, an original member of the group that sells Powerball, has decided to proceed with offering Mega Millions to our players beginning Jan. 31. That means players will have the chance to participate in both jackpot games in February and beyond. Mega Millions is similar to Powerball, but the drawings take place on Tuesday and Friday nights. Be watching for more details on how to play, and get ready for huge jackpots, four nights a week.
Winners are having a great end to 2009. There was another Club Keno winner last night. A player who buys tickets at Dam Restaurant and Lounge in Warsaw won $5,000.
Also, a winning Show Me Cash ticket was sold at QuikTrip, 55 Wentzville Parkway, in Wentzville. The 67th jackpot awarded in this game was more than $147,000. Tonight's Show Me Cash jackpot resets to $50,000. Good luck!
There was another big Club Keno winner last night. Someone who buys tickets at Twin Stroke Bar & Grill in Blue Springs won more than $7,000. You can try your hand at Club Keno at Missouri Lottery retailers with an age-controlled environment.
The game to keep an eye on this week is Show Me Cash. The jackpot has grown to an estimated $125,000 for tonight's drawing.
The Powerball jackpot run ended this weekend when someone from Kentucky matched all six numbers to win the $128 million jackpot. The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday reset to $20 million.
There was a big winner from Missouri over the holiday. Someone playing Club Keno at Fubbler's Cove in Orrick won more than $9,000 on Christmas Eve.
Christmas is over. You may still have some time off and some gifts to take back, but the bowl games are straight ahead, and then, 2010. Well, before you get too far ahead of yourself, don't forget that there's still time to enter non-winning holiday Scratchers in the "Holiday Magic" second-chance promotion. There is one drawing left in our holiday promotion, and the entry deadline is 5 p.m. on Jan. 5. Collect those eligible non-winning Scratchers and give yourself one more chance to win some great prizes - like a trip to WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort®. Click here for more details, and good luck.
The Missouri Lottery will be closed Dec. 25 in observance of the holiday. Of course, I'm sure there will be several retail locations that will be open in case you get the itch. Thank you for reading, and thank you for playing. From our family to yours, here's wishing you a safe and happy holiday season.
Two people are going to have happier holidays after winning big prizes playing Powerball. One ticket sold at Casey's General Store on Third St. in Milan matched all five white-ball numbers to win $200,000. Another Powerball ticket sold at Royall Holdings in Perryville matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number to win $10,000. The Powerball jackpot for Saturday night is now up to an estimated $122 million. Wouldn't that make for a Happy New Year?
Need a gift in a hurry for an adult on your list? Look no further than your nearest Missouri Lottery retailer. With five different holiday-themed games for you to choose from, you can give a gift with the potential to be worth a whole lot more after it's open, unlike the majority of things people buy at the stores. And better yet, even non-winning tickets have value. Just $10 worth of holiday-themed Scratchers tickets comprise one entry in the "Holiday Magic" second-chance promotion. Your gift recipient could win a trip to WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort®, a $1,000 shopping spree or $300 worth of Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets. It really is the gift that keeps on giving!
