Many businesses and government bodies manage their budgets in fiscal years, and, like the state, the Missouri Lottery's fiscal year ends in June. We'll report on the numbers from that period and begin FY10 in July.
When looking over the year's totals, our keen communications manager noticed that we've had a lot of Lotto winners this past year. She did some calculations, and discovered that Lotto has produced about 8 winners a year on average. This year, we've had 16 Lotto jackpot winners so far, and have three drawings left to go. Last year was a tie for the previous record of 11.
What could that mean? The game hasn't changed much in 22 years. Was it a lucky year for players, or are more people sticking with the Missouri game?
