Fair one week away

The Missouri State Fair runs from Aug. 7 - 17.  Check out the Fair Fan blog linked on the sidebar for a preview of what's to come, as well as a running commentary while the fair is happening.  If you are attending this year's fair to participate in some family fun, be sure to look for the Lottery booth.  We'll be selling tickets behind the grandstand again this year.  Check each day for daily specials like buy $2 worth of Pick 3 tickets and get a $1 SHOW ME 5 Paydown ticket for free.  On weekends while supplies last, players can buy $10 worth of tickets to get a free T-shirt.  And all non-winning tickets purchased at the fair can be entered into a second-chance promotion to win either a Kawasaki JET SKI® or a $3,000 shopping spree.

Where it's at

Two players matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000 in the July 30 drawing.  The winning tickets were purchased at the following locations: 

• Dierbergs on Olive in Creve Coeur
• Paul's Supermarket in Eldon

No one matched all six numbers so the Powerball jackpot for Aug. 2 is an estimated $87 million.  What could you do with $87 million? 

Love that Power Play

There were three players to match four white-ball numbers and the Powerball over the weekend to win $10,000.  Two of the tickets were sold at the following locations: 

• Petro Mart on Gravois Bluffs in Fenton
• Osage Mini Mart in Warsaw

One lucky player added the Power Play option to their ticket and bumped their prize to $40,000.  That ticket was sold at St. Andrews Mini Mart in St. Charles. 

No one matched all six numbers in Powerball so the jackpot for July 30 will grow to an estimated $75 million.  Get your tickets early, and don't forget to add some Power to your play. 

Here we go

There was one winner who matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000 last night.  The ticket was sold at State Line Liquor in Blue Eye.  No one matched all the numbers so the Powerball jackpot for July 26 grows to an estimated $64 million, currently the worlds largest.  Does it have your attention yet? 

Take It Home II

A new second-chance promotion begins on July 26.  One lucky player will win a new house from the Missouri Lottery.  The grand prize in the "Take It Home II" second-chance promotion is $300,000 taxes paid that the winner can use to purchase or build a new home.  Along with the grand prize, there will be five weekly drawings where six players will win $1,000 and one player will win $10,000.  Enter each week by the deadline to be eligible for the weekly drawings, and the grand prize will be selected from all entries on Sept. 12. 

An entry consists of $40 worth of non-winning tickets from the following Scratchers games: 

• $10 Game 613, "Lifetime Riches"
• $10 Game 646, "$250,000 Mega Cash"
• $10 Game 673, "100 Million Dollar Blockbuster"
• $20 Game 686, "4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza" 

As always, there are three ways to enter - online, by mail for in person at a Lottery office.  Remember, you can not use tickets that have been entered in previous promotions and if you enter online, be sure to save your tickets for validation once the winners are selected.  The first drawing deadline is Aug. 8, and the final deadline is Sept. 5.  For all the details about this exciting promotion, visit here. 

When we pull games

There have been a couple of recent national stories about other state Lotteries and the top prizes available on Scratchers games.  Each state has their own policy when to stop sales of a game, but most move quickly to end them once the top prizes have all been claimed.  A pending lawsuit in Colorado claims that players were misled into buying tickets after the top prize was no longer available. 

It's important to remember that there are a multitude of different prizes available on any given game, but in Missouri, it's our policy that we end sales of a game once the top prizes have been won.  Here's a recent interview our Executive Director did for Public Gaming on this very subject. 

NOTE:  In the interview, Executive Director Jansen mentions that the "Prizes Remaining" Web page is one of the top three pages visited.  When the Lottery first starting posting this information, it was one of the most popular.  Today, it ranks in the top 10 pages visited at Molottery.com. 

Eye on Powerball

Don't look now, but the Powerball jackpot has grown to an estimated $54 million for the July 23 drawing.  For some, maybe it's not big enough yet, but $54 million sounds like a lot of money to me.  What could you do with $54 million?

Show Me the money

Someone who buys SHOW ME 5 Paydown tickets at Super Thriftway on 63rd Street in Kansas City is feeling good today.  The player matched five numbers to win $50,000 tax paid in last night's drawing.  Congrats to the lucky winner. 

Big news on the way

There are a couple of big stories coming out in the near future.  One involves changes in a game, and another involves our newest promotion.  You may have seen signs at your favorite retailer promoting the "Take It Home II" second-chance promotion.  You can enter with $40 worth of non-winning $10 or $20 Scratchers tickets, for a chance to win a new home.  The promotion officially starts on July 26.  Keep watching Molottery.com for more details.
