Record Year

The end of June marks the end of the state's fiscal year and it's been another record for the Missouri Lottery.  Thanks to new Mega Scratchers and strong Club Keno and Powerball sales, the Missouri Lottery increased the contribution of proceeds to public education from the previous record of $260.3 million in FY 2006, to more than $265 million in FY 2008. 

Although we're proud of the effort from our retailers and Lottery employees, it would not be possible without the support of Missouri citizens who buy our tickets.  When you buy a Lottery ticket in Missouri, you're making life a little richer for everyone.  Thank you. 

Have you noticed Powerball?

The Fourth of July weekend is in sight and there are undoubtedly plenty of things occupying your thoughts.  As you spend time with friends and family in the week ahead, think about adding Powerball to your entertainment.  The jackpot for July 2 is an estimated $85 million, which could lead to celebrations of a different variety.  Two players matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000 Saturday night.  Those players bought their tickets from:

Yo Springfield!

If you live in the Springfield area, you may already have plans to attend the Firefall Festival at the Springfield airport on June 28.  If you think a Fourth of July celebration sounds like a good idea for this weekend and decide to go, be sure to look for the Missouri Lottery.  We'll be selling tickets from our trailer and offering a few promotions throughout the afternoon.  Get a jump start on the holiday with the Missouri Lottery. 

Where it's at

Several big winners in Powerball, but the jackpot grows.  There were five tickets to match four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win at least $10,000. 

• QuikTrip on Manchester in Ellisville
• Dierbergs on Clarkson in Chesterfield
• QuikTrip on Hanley in Berkeley

Two winners chose the Power Play option and boosted their winnings to $20,000. 

• Shop 'N' Go on Vivion Road in Kansas City
• 7-Eleven on East 23rd in Independence

Congratulations to all the winners. Since no one matched all six numbers, the Powerball jackpot for June 25 grows to $64 million.  Good luck.

It's summer!

Happy solstice!  Today marks the beginning of summer.  What better time to start thinking about the Missouri State Fair?  Enjoy the excitement of big name concerts and carnival rides close to home.  This year's fair features shows from Charlie Daniels and Missourians Sara Evans and Trent Tomlinson, plus all the exhibits and events that you've come to expect and love.  The Fair runs from August 7 - 17 in Sedalia, and the Lottery will once again have a booth on the fairgrounds. 

In preparation for this years fair - which is tagged "Go 4 It!" - the Department of Agriculture has revived their blog.  I've added it again to the blogroll and encourage you to stop by for a preview of what's to come.  Enjoy your summer, and we'll see you at the Fair! 

A brand new car!

The third and final drawing in the "Muscle Up" second-chance Scratchers promotion is complete and the winners have been posted.  Believe it or not, the grand-prize winner of a 2008 Dodge® Viper® SRT-10 Coupe was another mail-in entry.  Mail-in or drop-off entries comprised about 33 percent of the more than 87,000 total entries for this drawing.  Since we have already validated the winning selection, we can congratulate William Malloy of Bolivar!  Thanks to everyone who participated, and stay tuned for another exciting promotion later this summer. 

Where it's at

There were two lucky winners from last night's drawing.  A player who buys tickets at Fast Lane in Winfield matched all five numbers on SHOW ME 5 Paydown.  They'll be the lucky recipient of $50,000 TAX PAID!

Another player matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000.  That ticket was sold at Poor Boys 5 in Excelsior Springs.  Congratulations to the winners. 

By the way, the Powerball jackpot has climbed to $53 million for the June 21 drawing. 

Got the itch?

Scratch it!  There are a couple of new Scratchers tickets on the street.  "Casino Showdown" is a $5 Scratchers game that offers four different ways to play on one ticket.  You could win up to $100,000. 

There's also a new bingo Scratchers game for you to enjoy, "Cash Line Bingo."  You can win up to five times on this $2 ticket with a top prize of $30,002.  We've changed the way players mark their card with this game.  Instead of an ink blot that turns blue when you scratch it, the play area features white latex that is removed.  We hope this makes it easier for players to track the call-out numbers.

If you have a few good pictures you were thinking of submitting to the Missouri Lottery's 2009 Calendar Photo Contest, now is the time to do it.  While this promotion has been open for several months, it will soon come to a close.  The deadline for entry is 5 p.m. on June 27.  Remember, the theme is "Missouri Parks," so if you have visited one of our great state parks recently and managed to get a few impressive shots, look over the official rules and make sure you have the images submitted before the cutoff.  Good luck. 

Where it's at

Someone hit it big in Powerball last night.  A ticket purchased at Howdershell BP in Hazelwood matched five white-ball numbers and had the Power Play option.  Since the Power Play number was five, that lucky person will collect a single payment of $1 million!  Another player matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball number to win $10,000.  That ticket was sold at Kreisler Drug 3 in Clinton.  Congratulations to the lucky ticket holders.
