What makes you happy?

This summer, the Missouri Lottery is offering some huge prizes in a coordinated promotion. The “Happy Days of Summer” has two ways to win.  First, enter $30 worth of any non-winning $10 mega Scratchers into a second-chance drawing for a new home!  Mail in or enter online by July 26 to be eligible. On Aug. 1, one lucky winner will be selected to receive $300,000 taxes paid to build or buy their dream home. In addition to the second-chance drawing, there are select summer Scratchers tickets featuring a collect-and-win game. Win instantly, or match pieces on your gameboard to win a Corvette or RV, a trip to Hawaii or Walt Disney World Resort®, $2,000 for electronics or furniture, or $20 in Scratchers tickets. Home Run!

The Missouri Lottery has teamed up with Major League Baseball® to offer some exciting games this summer.  Two new $5 Scratchers games, the “St. Louis Cardinals™” and the “Kansas City Royals™,” sport a top prize of $100,000, plus have second-chance promotion that offers MLB® merchandise, season tickets, luxury boxes and even the perk of throwing out the first pitch.  The first drawing took place on May 24, and the unofficial winners lists have been posted on our Web site. One keen player has pointed out that someone was lucky enough to win something in both the Royals and Cardinals promotions.  Arnold Johnson writes…

one lucky winner, one a cardinal/and royals package!!  what are the odds of that!?!?!?!!!  that person should have bought a power ball ticket!!

What are the odds of that?  Well, according to our promotions manager, the odds of winning in the second-chance drawing are just the number of entries divided by the number of prizes.  For the “Catch the Cardinals™” promotion, the odds of winning for the first drawing were 1 in 585.  For the “Run with the Royals™” promotion, even with fewer prizes available, the odds of winning were much better at 1 in 23226.  Since you can choose which game to play and enter both promotions, your odds of winning will certainly change for the next drawing scheduled on July 5. May Team of the Month

Congratulations to the "Power Players" of Lee's Summit.  This group was recognized as the Lottery Team of the Month for May as part of the Missouri Lottery's 2007 Lottery Captains promotion.  The team is a group of 12 co-workers who pool their money to play Powerball and Lotto together.  Group members are: Shirley Hanson, Harrisonville; Peggy Keithly, Glenda Eastwood, Cheryl Sherwood and Sandra Schlobohm, all of Independence; Ginger Keastner, Greenwood; Linda Price, Kingsville; Marsha Cox and Elizabeth Carelton, both of Lee's Summit; Alessandra Cress, Grandview; Linda Danforth, Holden; and Debbie Sims, Pleasant Hill.
